Pi-Top 3D Printed Raspberry-Powered Laptop

pi-topWhen it comes to the world of 3D printing, there has been a fair number of advances made over the past couple of years, so much so that even a steel-coated bullet will work just fine with a 3D printed gun as we discovered earlier this week. This just goes to show how 3D printing continues to move forward and onward regardless of the field it is involved in, ranging from the medical arena to engineers and NASA scientists. How about printing your very own laptop? This sounds great on paper, although there is still a fair amount of work that needs to be done before it can reach the levels of a pristine, high end gaming laptop. Baby steps first, with the Pi-Top.

The Pi-Top happens to be a 3D printed laptop which allows you to make your very own fully functional laptop. With Pi-Top, you will gain the necessary know-how in creating your very own hardware, as you are taught also the different components and functionality that make up all of the parts within a laptop. Apart from that, the Pi-Top will also be accompanied by online lesson plans that allows it to understand electronics, create printed circuit boards, 3D print objects and an injection moulded case.

Each Pi-Top kit will feature a Raspberry Pi board, a battery with a 6-hour life, a laptop keyboard and trackpad, a Wi-Fi antenna, a 13.3” HD TFT LCD display at 1366 × 768 resolution, and the most recent version of the Raspbian OS.
