The Korean juggernaut has taken its sweet time to prepare the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy S5. It released the update in Poland last year and also in a handful of other markets, but not in North America. The release still hasn’t happened in this part of the world but continues to grow in other markets. The latest markets to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop for Galaxy S5 include Russia and Malaysia.

It is about time that Samsung started gearing up for a global release of this update, which was originally rolled out by Google in November last year. Some OEMs have been quick to get it out even to customers in the U.S. where updates tend to face delays at the hands of mobile carriers.

The update being rolled out in Malaysia and Russia carry build numbers G900FDXU1BNL3 and G900FDXXU1BNL9 respectively. They bring a redesigned user interface, better performance, updated native applications, heads-up notifications and a lot more which comes as part and parcel of Android 5.0.

As far as the release in North America is concerned, latest reports suggest that Samsung is looking at a release later this month, so users in this part of the world might not have to wait for too long now.
