iPhone 6 Experiences The Ultimate Drop Test

YouTube Poster

Just when you thought that you have seen the worst of drop tests where the precious new iPhone 6 is concerned, all of those would pale in comparison to what is shown on the video above. How high were the previous iPhone 6 handsets released from? Certainly not from space, right? Yes sir, a spanking new iPhone 6 was sent to the stratosphere last year, traversing more than 101,000 feet vertically in the process, touching temperatures as cold as -79 degrees F and winds as strong as 70 MPH. On the way down, the iPhone 6 and flight rig had to go through a 150 PRM rotation as the parachute deployed, while the rig fought tooth and nail to stabilize.

When the entire flight rig came down to earth, it broke apart – naturally, but the iPhone 6, ah, a miracle happened. The iPhone 6 was in good – nay, perfectly normal working order. The reason behind this? An UAG case, now how about that? The flight rig comprised of a pair of GoPro cameras to record proceedings, a single GPS locator and a backup phone with GPS and active tracking installed. The iPhone 6 itself was encased in UAG’s composite iPhone 6 case without any screen protector, and it survived, now how about that? I suppose this is a very powerful ad for those who are paranoid about protecting their new iPhone 6.
