For years Nintendo has run a loyalty program called Club Nintendo which allowed customers to collect coins through hardware and software, and then exchange them to get numerous items. It is now the end of the road for this loyalty program. Nintendo has announced the worldwide closure of Club Nintendo, though members in the U.S. still have a month or so left in which they can collect coins and redeem them.

Club Nintendo members based in the U.S. and Canada will be able to earn more coins until the end of March 2015. These coins will remain redeemable till the end of June 2015.

They can be exchanged for things like downloadable games, posters, character figures and more. The company says that Nintendo of America is going to announce a new customer loyalty program “at a later date.”

To ease the transition for Club Nintendo members “dozens” of new rewards and downloadable games will be offered so that members can clean out their coin balances. In February a few physical reward options will be added as well, apart from Flipnote Studio 3D software, which will be available as a free download next month.

After March 31st, 2015 it will no longer be possible to create a Club Nintendo account. No details have been provided yet about the upcoming rewards program.
