This is a smart food scale that has been developed by a former Apple employee. Basically it connects to an iPad via Bluetooth and will be able to weigh any food that you place on it. From there it will be able to detect the calories and total nutrients, as well as its weight, so if you’re wondering exactly how many calories you’re consuming along with fat, protein, carbs, and so on, this could be a more accurate way of measuring it.
According to its creator Michael Grothaus, “The interest we’ve gotten — not just from calorie counters, diabetics and athletes, but also tech companies — has been great. This is just the beginning for SITU. And we can’t wait to get it into everyone’s hands.” Grothaus himself has reaped the rewards of using his own product as he has managed to lose a total of 80 pounds.
If this sounds like a health product you wouldn’t mind getting your hands on, the SITU scale is priced around $149 and can be pre-ordered via its website. It is expected to begin shipping out to customers in March.
