Regardless of how one feels about guns, the technological advancements being made to these weapons are pretty impressive and to a certain extent pretty amazing as well. Recently Colt Canada has shown off an upcoming rifle that could see its use by the Canadian Forces, and we have to say that it looks pretty badass.

The prototype gun is a bullpup rifle which basically means that the gun’s magazine and action are located behind the trigger mechanism instead of in front of it. This makes the gun ligter and shorter, making it easier for soldiers to carry it around. The folks at Colt have also designed the gun to be modular, meaning that certain components can be swapped in and out depending on the situation.

The base of the gun will be a rifle that fires NATO-standard 5.56 x 45mm rounds, and in addition to that, soldiers will be able to choose to have the rifle fitted with a 3-shot 40mm grenade launcher, or a 12-gauge shotgun which will be more useful in close combat situations. The design of the gun remains incomplete as Colt has noted that they are still working on finishing it up.

The company plans on integrating a modern targeting system that could help address some of the criticisms of the bullpup design, which are apparently not as accurate for long distance shooting as more traditionally designed guns.
