Google Releases Its First Watch Face For Android Wear

Despite the fact that Google is the company that has built Android Wear from the ground up, a relatively new platform for wearable devices, the company has taken up till now to release its first watch face for smartwatches that are powered by Android Wear. Released today the watch face is called Street Art. It is actually a collaborative effort between more than a dozen artists who got together as part of the Google Art Project. It’s artsy, sure enough, but as far as options go the watch face is lacking many.

Three display modes are offered to users who install the Street Art watch face: analog, digital and minimal. The analog mode puts up a round watch face so it would look good on round smartwatches that run Android Wear, like the Moto 360.

Digital mode puts art front and center and time gets relegated to the bottom. Last but not the least, minimal makes use of small circles to display the time in an analog fashion, but it doesn’t use hour and second hands like one would expect from the analog mode.

As far as options go users can decide whether or not they want the date to show up on the watch face. That’s all that they get in terms of options. So if you’re looking for a watch face that’s big on options then Street Art is not for you.

Google’s Street Art watch face for Android Wear smartwatches is available as a free download from the Google Play Store.
