nintendo-wii-u-review-14About a week ago, Nintendo made a surprise announcement in which they revealed that they were working on a new gaming console called the Nintendo NX. This console would ultimately replace and succeed the Wii U, which based on the sales figures from earlier isn’t looking too optimistic.

Unfortunately not much is known about the Nintendo NX for now but according to Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata, he states that the console will surprise everyone. Speaking to Nikkei (via Nintendo Life), Iwata said that the Nintendo NX has been designed to surprise players and that it could change a person’s video gaming life.

According to the translated article, Iwata said, “However, if you only expand upon existing hardware, it’s dull. In some shape or form, we’re always thinking about how we want to surprise players as well as our desire to change each person’s video gaming life.” We suppose he does have a point as consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are basically more powerful versions of their predecessors.

However this is a formula that is clearly working for both Sony and Microsoft as evidenced in the response and sales figures of their respective consoles. In any case we can only hope that Nintendo has learnt from whatever mistakes it was that caused the Wii U to flop, but in the meantime what do you think Nintendo could do with the Nintendo NX that would be different from the competition?
