win_10_smart_dialOne of the neat features of Android is its smart dial. Basically this lets you search for contacts by typing in their name using the keypad instead of having to scroll through your address book. It’s faster and more convenient and it looks like it could be coming back to Windows 10 handsets.

This was apparently revealed during a presentation in which the feature was shown on a presentation slide which you can see to the right. Interestingly enough the smart dial feature was actually part of Windows Mobile before Microsoft decided to go with Windows Phone and we’re not sure why the feature did not come along with it. Perhaps it was an oversight, perhaps Microsoft had always intended to bring it back but forgot, who knows?

Either way what we do know is that it looks like it is set for a return in Windows 10. The presentation also reportedly showed off a Yellow Pages feature in which users could look up public numbers. This is also a feature similar to Android where users could search for business numbers via the dialer.

According to a recent announcement by Microsoft, Windows 10 is set for a release this summer. However it seems like it might only be the computer version of Windows 10 that has been pegged for a summer launch, but no word on when the version intended for mobile devices will be released.
