If you’ve recently updated your Nexus 5 to the latest Android build which is Android 5.1 Lollipop and you’re experience crashing with your camera app, you’re not alone. There have been several user reports in which users are complaining that their camera app is crashing frequently after the update, which you can see for yourself in the video above.

The crash seems to occur when an app tries to access the camera, such as Facebook or Snapchat which allows users to take photos and upload them directly within the app itself. Users taking advantage of the Smart Unlock feature have also reported that they are experiencing similar crashes. However it seems that not everyone is affected by this so it is unclear how widespread the issue really is.

Now if you are experiencing these crashes for yourself, it has been suggested that restarting your phone could be a way to “fix” it. However in some cases it does not work or the fix is merely temporary until the problem eventually returns. Like we said we can’t be sure how widespread the issue is and why only some handsets are affected, but hopefully this is something that Google has taken note of and is working on a fix that will be issued soon. In the meantime any of our readers afflicted by this bug?
