Apple Connect Rumored To Be A YouTube Rival

An old rumor is making the rounds again as Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2015 nears. Rumor has it that Apple is working on a YouTube rival that it’s going to call Apple Connect. Obviously there’s no confirmation from Cupertino about this and the company has never really said that it wants to take the battle to YouTube, which might be the world’s largest video streaming website but is yet to turn a profit.

The rumor has been rehashed amid reports that Apple is going to announce a new music streaming service at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2015 next month. It’s said that the company has plans to develop a YouTube competitor called Apple Connect.

At WWDC 2015, Apple is going to talk about iOS 9, the next version of OS X, the much awaited Beats relaunch with Ping-like social features among other things. It just doesn’t make any sense right now that Apple is going to go after YouTube.

Yes, there have been reports that Apple wants to move into web streaming by bringing major TV networks as well as local TV stations onboard but that’s completely different from a service aimed at user-generated videos.

As much as people would like to see what a YouTube competitor from Apple looks like, I wouldn’t put my money on one being unveiled at any point in the near future.
