Google is planning to roll out an update for the forthcoming weekend, which means that it will be arriving at the correct time before the rush infused weekend of Memorial Day arrives on Monday. The update will make the app function rather actively and provide users with better insights on the traffic and will also offer alternate routes for the destination.

The app will be providing all the alerts while you drive, it will update the data in sync with your route. The alternate route options will also appear at the time when users will start the journey. Another cool feature to be included on-board is Google’s estimate for how long users might stay stuck in the traffic jam.

Google wrote on its blog, “While you’re on the road, Google Maps will give you a heads up if congestion lies ahead, and how long you’ll be stuck in a jam. You’ll also get the option to take alternate routes, including explanations for why one is recommended—whether it’s the fastest or avoids an incident”

The update would be a welcome move by Google as it will help commuters in a better way to reach destination on time with proper traffic guidelines. It will come to Google Maps soon.
