youtube_collectionsWe’re sure that many of you guys out there have subscribed to a variety of YouTube channels. These channels are probably of different genres ranging from maybe helpful tutorials, to funny videos, to music videos, vlogs, and more. This can be a bit messy which is where YouTube Collections comes in.

For those who haven’t tried the feature, basically YouTube Collections will allow users to group channels together under a name or a tag, so that you will be able to lump channels of a particular genre/type together making it easier for you to search through them and search for them. Unfortunately this is a feature that Google will be doing away with.

It has been recently revealed on the YouTube help page (via Android Police) that the Collections feature will be discontinued on the 20th of May. According to YouTube, “On 5/20/15, we’ll discontinue Collections, as we’ll focus on other efforts to make your subscriptions more enjoyable.”

It is unclear as to why the Collections feature is being discontinued, but presumably it’s not getting the amount of response that Google had anticipated. However like the help page states, there is a chance that a similar and more improved feature might make its way back to YouTube at a later date. In the meantime will anyone miss the Collections feature?
