Have you ever wanted to experience a toast simulator? Well, now you can, provided that you have a PlayStation 4. Luke Williams, the guy known for the Surgeon Simulator, has confirmed that I am Bread is coming to the PlayStation 4. It’s the prequel to Surgeon Simulator, and gives players control over a piece of bread that has high aspirations of becoming toast.

Williams writes on the official PlayStation blog that around the time they were finishing up Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Edition for PlayStation 4, he had a thought: “if bread could move, how would it do it, and what could it possibly want to achieve?”

He says that the more he thought about it the more he saw the premise for a game, not to mention quite a few design challenges. After a lot of thinking and designing, Williams and his team were able to create I am Bread.

As previously mentioned, players have control over a piece of bread needs to become toast. The goal in each level is to seek or create a heat source “by any means necessary” in order to toast the bread while maintaining edibility, because nobody likes burnt toast, or one that’s covered in dust, ants, mud etc.

It’s an interesting take on simulators which sees the player taking control of different types of bread, ” become a baguette as you smash your way around the various levels,” says Williams, “or become a bagel, and roll your way around a series of race courses in record time.”

Those who don’t own the PlayStation 4 need not worry, I am Bread will soon be released for iOS as well.
