New BlackBerry Slider Smartphone Expected To Arrive By November

Earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, BlackBerry CEO John Chen showed off a new high-end handset that the company is going to release later this year. Back then it was revealed that this is going to be a slider handset, a form factor that’s not common these days, possibly with a dual-edge curved display which debuted with the Galaxy S6 edge.

According to a new report this slider handset is internally referred to as the BlackBerry “Venice,” and that it could be released by the company around November 2015.

It merits mentioning here that last year’s flagship, BlackBerry Passport, was also mentioned at MWC 2014 before it was subsequently released for the public in November 2014, so this timeline for the Venice does make sense.

BlackBerry Venice reportedly has a 5.4 inch Quad HD display, the highest resolution display yet on a BlackBerry, 1.8GHz hexacore 64-bit Snapdragon 808 processor from Qualcomm with 3GM RAM, 18 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera.

None of these specifications have been confirmed by the company as yet, we will have to wait for the official announcement to get that information.

Recent reports suggest that BlackBerry’s next flagship will actually be running Android instead of BlackBerry 10, the company hasn’t said if it plans on making Android smartphones, so at least take this bit with a grain of salt for now.
