Back in 2009, a game called The Last Guardian was announced and was meant to arrive on the Sony PlayStation 3. Unfortunately years later there was no sign of the game and with the game’s designer and director Fumito Ueda leaving Sony, many were speculating that perhaps the game had been cancelled.

However last year Sony refuted those rumors and it looks like they have finally delivered. At Sony’s press conference in E3 2015, the company has officially unveiled the game (again) and this time with a release date set for 2016, although no specific dates were mentioned. Given that it has been 6 years since the game was first revealed, it is not surprising that it will now be headed for the PlayStation 4.

We suppose this has been a long time coming and 6 years is a long time to wait for a game, especially when you consider that the game was originally in development since 2007, meaning that it really has been 8 years in the making. It is obviously a Sony PlayStation exclusive so gamers on the Xbox One probably shouldn’t hold their breaths.

If you have a few minutes to spare and want to check out the game, watch the trailer above which shows off the game in all of its splendor, and boy does it look good!
