According to the folks at The Next Web, they noticed this message when trying to share a YouTube link on Facebook (see screenshot above). Basically Facebook appears to be encouraging users to use its services more directly, claiming that this will help with tracking Page insights and apparently native Facebook videos are more “liked”.
Considering how many monthly active users there are on Facebook, we suppose it makes sense if you were to upload a video and try to reach as broad an audience as possible. Plus not having to load a third-party website such as YouTube will also make things a bit easier, although admittedly YouTube is more established when it comes to video.
Whether or not Facebook will ultimately be successful in becoming the place for online streaming video remains to be seen, but based on this it certainly looks like they’re trying. In the meantime which service would you rather use for your online videos? YouTube or Facebook?
