metal_gear_solid_5_the_phantom_painWith Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain possibly being the last game to be made under the Hideo Kojima banner, safe to say many are eagerly anticipating the game’s release which is currently pegged for the 1st of September 2015. It is expected to be launched across a variety of consoles including the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and the Xbox One.

That being said if you are planning on playing the game using your PS4 console, it should be noted that thanks to a listing on the Japanese PlayStation Store, it has been revealed that the upcoming game will consume a whopping 25.1GB on your console. If your console is current packed full of games and other media, maybe it’s time to start deciding what you want to keep and what needs to go.

Interestingly enough it seems that its PS3 counterpart will require significantly less space at 11.7GB. We can’t be sure why, but perhaps the PS3 uses lower-res textures which might explain why it takes up less space. It should be noted that the figures might differ for US and European markets due to localization files, but other than that we doubt it will be too big of a difference.

In the meantime storage requirements for the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One have yet to be revealed, nor the PC version which is due for a release on the 15th of September, about two weeks after the release of the console version of the game.
