dontjudgeRemember the Ice Bucket Challenge craze that swept the Internet quite some while back? That was certainly a trend that would die out eventually, but at the height of it, it seems that the whole world could not get enough of the challenge. Well, in the same vein, it does look as though a brand new challenge in up in store – where teens are starting to get ‘ugly’ for social media in the #DontJudgeChallenge

I guess the name of this new social media challenge that has gone viral is pretty much self explanatory. There really is not much to talk about, since it will obviously involve teens who would do their level best to look as ugly as possible in front of the camera.

This is a departure from the prim and proper photos that teens put up, trying to look as beautiful or handsome as possible from a variety of angles, duck lips notwithstanding. In the #DontJudgeChallenge, teens have resorted to smearing makeup, creating fake acne, uni-brows, and scars, and then re-emerge to look their real selves after a quick blackout. Originally meant to be a message against body-shaming, it has received a lot of flak afterwards, especially when critics claim this exercise does nothing but to reinforce stereotypes of what the world deems as beautiful, and otherwise.
