Google-Project-Ara-ATAP-640x401For those who are unfamiliar, Project Ara is a smartphone concept that the folks at Google are trying to make a reality. The idea is that a smartphone is pieced together using different modules, and in turn it allows users to swap out the modules as they need, like adding more storage, bumping camera megapixels, and more.

Now earlier this year we saw a prototype of the phone that was working, but ever since then there has not been much word. In fact Google said that they were planning on launching a market pilot of the phone in Puerto Rico, but that has not happened either. If you were worried about the status of the project, you can rest assured that it isn’t going anywhere.

According to a series of tweets by the official Project Ara Twitter account, it has been revealed that the project is still in the works and that they aren’t going anywhere. Instead the tweet has the hashtag that reads “just recalculating”, suggesting that maybe something happened along the way that has forced the team to re-evaluate the situation.

Unfortunately for now it’s really anyone’s guess as to when we might be able to expect to get a finished device that’s fit for consumers, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long and hopefully Google will have additional Project Ara details to share in the near future.
