Netflix has a pretty good track record with original series and documentaries, the company has produced multiple award winning shows that have really set an example for online streaming services. Rival services like Amazon have also created compelling content which is good enough to win multiple Emmys but now it looks like Amazon has decided to follow Netflix into the world of original films for good.

According to a new report Amazon’s new original film is going to be a dark comedy starring Kristen Wiig, apparently the company is in negotiations to finance the movie which currently has the working title Desired Moments.

The plot is reportedly going to revolve around a man who is obsessed with an online wish granting service, it’s unclear at this point what Wiig’s role is going to be in this film, there will also be a male lead who supposedly hasn’t been cast yet.

Amazon already has its first film in the pipeline, Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq, which was confirmed in July this year and is expected to be released by the end of this year.

On the other hand Netflix has released a very impressive trailer of its first feature film titled Beasts of No Nation, the company has also inked a deal with a cinema chain in the UK for its theatrical release, Netflix’s first film will be available on the service across all territories next month.
