At its event today in San Francisco Apple finally unveiled a product that we have been hearing about for a very long time, it’s called the iPad Pro and it’s the biggest and most powerful iPad that Apple has ever created. it comes with a 12.9 inch display which warrants the need for additional input devices and for precisely that reason Apple has created a physical keyboard for this tablet.

The accessory which happens to be the first physical keyboard Apple has ever built for an iPad is called Smart Keyboard, it’s built into the Smart Cover accessory so you not only get a physical keyboard but also get protection for the display. The keyboard is covered in woven fabric which also forms the shape and structure of this accessory.

It connects to the tablet through a new technology that Apple calls smart connector, there are three small circles on the side of the iPad Pro which carry power and data making it very easy to connect the physical keyboard. When it’s connected to the tablet the software adapts automatically and seamlessly transitions from the virtual keyboard to the physical keyboard, there are no settings to configure or options to set, it just works.

Smart Keyboard will be available with the iPad Pro this November for $169.
