Much has been said about the two Nexus smartphones Google is believed to be working on with LG and Nexus. LG has long been a Nexus partner but this is the first time that Google has worked with a Chinese manufacturer on a Nexus smartphone and it has chosen Huawei, one of the biggest OEMs in China. A new report suggests that the Huawei Nexus might be the first Nexus smartphone ever to offer 128GB onboard storage.

Nexus smartphones have never offered 128GB onboard storage, last year’s flagship Nexus 6 only offered 32GB and 64GB storage options, this will no doubt be a big bump one that will be appreciated by folks who advocate for greater onboard storage in flagship devices.

Android Police reports citing multiple trusted sources that the new Huawei Nexus smartphone will be available in three storage options: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB GB.

It’s unlikely that a microSD slot will also be included alongside the onboard storage, but you never know, perhaps it may break away from traditional and offer expandable storage as well. The report suggests that we should expect a $50-$100 price premium at each increased storage level.

Google has sent out invitations for a press event on September 29th where it’s likely going to show off the new Nexus handsets, we’ll get information on pricing and availability at the event.
