Google may have killed the Nexus program but it appears that ZTE wants to carry the baton forward. To be fair, Google has ditched Nexus because it doesn’t fit in the “Made by Google” vision that it has got going with the Pixel handsets even though the new flagships offer the stock Android experience that people loved Nexus devices for. According to a report, ZTE is considering making stock Android […]
Google launched its Nexus program back in 2010 with the Nexus One. The idea was to team up with third-party manufacturers to create good smartphones and tablets that were competitively priced. Nexus devices also had the advantage of receiving software updates directly from Google so they were always the first to get updates. Now that the company has launched its first “Made by Google” smartphones under the Pixel brand one […]
If you are waiting on a new Android Wear-powered smartwatch from some of the biggest partners that have teamed up with Google for Android Wear devices, you will need to keep waiting until next year. Some of the company’s biggest partners have now confirmed that they have no plans of launching new smartwatches this year. So it’s likely going to be quite a while before some of them come out […]
Google’s Wi-Fi Assistant is a feature that was previously exclusive to users of its Project Fi cell service. The feature lets a Nexus device automatically connect to countless open and free Wi-Fi hotspots in a bid to reduce cellular data use and provide better mobile data speeds. Google today confirmed that it’s expanding Wi-Fi Assistant to all Nexus smartphones and that the feature is no longer a Project Fi exclusive.
Even though there have been rumors in the past, Google hasn’t come out with own-brand smartphones as yet. For the past few years it has been working with third-party manufacturers to develop Nexus smartphones and tablets which it directly sells and prioritizes for software updates. A new report claims that the company’s first Google-branded smartphones are going to be released next month.
For the past few months, it has been rumored that Google is going to introduce two new Nexus smartphones this year and that both of them will be manufactured by HTC. While nothing has been officially confirmed the rumor mill appears to be convinced that this is how it’s going to be in 2016. A new report out of South Africa contradicts popular belief, quoting a Huawei executive as saying that the […]
It has been a while since Google came out with new Nexus-branded smartphones so naturally the world is looking forward to the new handsets. There have already been all sorts of rumors and leaks concerning the new devices even though nothing has been officially confirmed as yet. Google hasn’t even confirmed which manufacturer it’s going to select to build the new Nexus smartphones, it has worked with the likes of LG, […]
Given how well-received the Nexus 6P from Huawei is, it was rumored that Huawei could be in the running to make this year’s Nexus and a trademark for the “Huawei 7P” seems to have suggested. However it’s starting to look like that might no longer be a possibility, thanks to a tweet by Evan Blass who provided more leaks that HTC could be in the running instead.
As far as Nexus handsets are concerned, HTC has been only involved in one which was the first Nexus phone ever, which admittedly is a pretty important milestone for the company and Google’s Nexus lineup. Now thanks a post on Reddit, Redditor Daman09 has created a mockup of what he thinks HTC’s Nexus could look like if they were to make one.
According to recent rumors, it has been suggested that HTC could be building not one, but two Nexus handsets in 2016. Given that HTC did build the first Nexus handset and has recently helped with the Nexus 9 tablet, the idea of HTC being a possible Nexus manufacturer doesn’t seem that much of a stretch.
It is 2016 which means that we can expect Google to release a new Nexus handset later this year. Now in terms of who is building the phone, we can safely rule out LG as the company themselves have confirmed that they will not be partnering with Google on a Nexus handset this year.
Valentine’s day is just around the corner and that means that many of you will be out picking up presents for your significant other. Tablets make a nice present, who doesn’t like getting a new slate that they can use for casual web browsing and watching Netflix, it’s one of the perfect gifts. If you are in the market for a new tablet perhaps you might want to take a […]
Google has collaborated with a variety of manufacturers for Nexus smartphones and tablets, manufacturers like HTC, LG, Samsung and even Huawei. It handles the software end and promises fast updates while the manufacturing partners take care of the hardware end and production. If a new report is to be believed Google is now interested in pulling an Apple on its Nexus lineup, meaning that it wants to control both the […]
Do you take expandable memory on your smartphone for granted? Well, not all smartphones do come with an expansion slot in the form of a microSD memory card slot, and it seems that the last Google Nexus handset that had a microSD card slot happened to be the maiden Nexus smartphone, which is the Google Nexus One way back in 2010. Of course, this does not mean that newer generation […]
