Over the past few months Amazon has been gradually expanding its one-hour Amazon Prime Now delivery service to more markets across the United States and today the company has announced that people in the San Francisco Bay Area can now take advantage of this service which promises delivery of selected products within just one hour of the order being placed.

Amazon Prime Now was launched in December last year, initially it was only available in some parts of New York. Since then the service has been expanded to cover cities such as Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago and many others. Starting today it’s available in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Antonio.

As the list of cities as grown so has the list of products that are eligible for one-hour delivery. In some markets it’s even possible to have alcohol and prepared meals delivered via Amazon Prime Now.

Amazon’s one-hour delivery service is now available in 17 metropolitan areas across the globe, London is on the list as well, all Amazon Prime members receive free two-hour delivery and there’s an additional charge to have the order delivered within one hour. There’s a separate app for Prime Now that has all of the products which be delivered within the promised timeframe, one-hour deliveries cost $7.99 per order
