BlackBerry Releases App That Makes Switching To The Priv Easy

BlackBerry has never made an Android smartphone before but that changes now, the company has confirmed that the BlackBerry Priv is its first Android-powered smartphone which is now available for pre-order with shipments starting next month. Naturally there are quite a lot of people interested in the handset, primarily to see what BlackBerry’s take on Android is, the company has now released a new application which makes it easy to switch from an existing BB10 device to the BlackBerry Priv.

The company needs this device to perform well, it’s no secret that BlackBerry’s hardware division has been burning money for the past few years, not only does BB need the Priv to plug the hole but it also needs the handset to once again make BlackBerry a force in the global smartphone market.

The first step in that aim was to adopt an operating system that doesn’t have any shortage of applications, Android was the only option since Apple doesn’t license iOS and opting for Windows Mobile wouldn’t have made no sense.

Even though the handset is yet to be released the BlackBerry Content Transfer app is already live in BlackBerry World. The app will effortlessly transfer important data from the BB10 powered handset to the Android Lollipop powered Priv, this includes email accounts, documents, tasks, notes, calendar, SMS, videos, music and much more. It’s a one-stop solution and takes away the headache associated with shifting data from one phone to the other.

Obviously the app serves no purpose until the BlackBerry Priv is released, look for pre-ordered units to arrive early next month.
