Customers in Austin can use the Prime Now app to view participating restaurants and browse their menus, this app can then be used to place orders and track status of delivery. It’s possible to track in real time as the driver moves from the restaurant towards the deliver address. Amazon guarantees that the order will be delivered in one hour or less once it’s placed.

For now restaurant delivery in Austin is limited to 15 zip codes in and around downtown Austin, Amazon is going to continue expanding the restaurant selection over the next few weeks. Users can enter their zip code in the Prime Now app to see if the service is live in their area, in zip codes where the service is available users will see Restaurants on the home page.

It’s important to note that customers are promised transparent pricing with this service, there are no menu markups or hidden delivery service fees. Customers pay for food using the payment information that they already have on file with Amazon. Delivery on all orders is free, albeit for a limited time, Amazon is likely to start charging for it once usage picks up.
