Lionhead Studios has announced today that it’s delaying Fable Legends open beta till next year, it had initially planned to release the open beta during the holiday season, but the studio felt that it would be much better if it merely extended the closed beta right now to get more feedback from the community prior to opening up the beta to the public. The closed beta has been running since 2014 and it will continue to operate till the open beta arrives.

As compensation for the delay Lionhead Studios is going to send out an additional 100,000 invites for the Fable Legends closed beta over the next few weeks, with those who have been waiting the longest for an invite being prioritized. Those who want to get in on the closed beta can sign up at the game’s website.

The studio says that its team behind this game is working “exceptionally hard” to further improve this unique and innovative multiplayer experience that combines RTS and RPG gameplay, allowing players to use their gear seamlessly across platforms like Windows 10 and Xbox One.

The closed beta is operating 24/7 with more features, quests, creatures and heros being added regularly. Lionhead says that “hundreds of thousands of fans” have participated in the closed beta so far and it can’t wait to open it up for everybody in spring of 2016.
