The Pushbullet app has been updated with a new feature called Remote Files, as the name suggests, it enables users to remotely browse their files from any device. The feature enables users to access their files on any of their devices provided that Pushbullet is installed and the device is connected to the internet. So if you’re at the office and need a file off a phone that’s at home, you can remotely do that with Pushbullet. The best part is that this feature is available for free.

The entire experience is simple, the files don’t have to be in a special folder, users can easily browse and have any file pushed to them. Be it a smartphone, tablet or computer, Pushbullet’s Remote Files feature will work in both directions, so you can get files off of a computer using just the smartphone.

There’s one caveat and that’s the fact that the device needs to be connected to the internet otherwise the feature won’t work, so if that phone at home isn’t connected to the internet, then you’re pretty much going to have to drive back for it. This won’t be a problem with desktops that are left online however the feature won’t be of any use on a laptop that falls asleep.

For now Remote Files requires a native Pushbullet app and it’s supported in the latest version of the app for Windows desktop and Android. The feature is disabled by default but can easily be enabled from the Settings menu.
