It would be a massive understatement to say that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a popular movie. The latest iteration to the iconic Star Wars franchise arrived on the big screen last week with millions of people lining up across the globe just to catch the first screening. It has already broken several records at the box office and is now setting them as well, the latest Star Wars movie has become the fastest film ever to earn $300 million.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has crossed $300 million in ticket days merely five days after it hit the big screen in North America. This record makes it the only movie to do so in less than a week, only Jurassic World came close, though it reached $300 million in eight days instead of five.

It’s also breaking and setting new records. On its first Monday the movie made $40.1 million as opposed to Spider-Man 2 which set the previous record for a first Monday by bringing in $27.7 million.

This monumental success follows the blockbuster global release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens as it ranked $528 million over the launch weekend across the globe, and the figure doesn’t even include ticket sales in China, since the movie doesn’t come out there until the first week of January.

Analysts expect that this movie is going to cross the $2 billion milestone in the near future, which would just go to show that The Force really is strong with this one.
