acer-liquid-jade-primo-4Earlier this month at CES 2016, Acer announced a new Windows 10 smartphone in the form of the Acer Liquid Jade Primo. It was rather refreshing considering that for the most part, Microsoft themselves seem to be primarily responsible for churning out Windows 10 devices. However it has also been reported that we might now be able to expect an Android version of the phone.

This comes from a report from (via WMPoweruser) who has spotted a certain Acer S58A on Geekbench. For those unfamiliar, the Liquid Jade Primo’s model number is the S58, so it has been assumed that the “A” stands for Android. A report from has speculated that the Android version is a backup for Acer.

We’re not sure if this sighting means that Acer is still planning on launching the Android version. However its specs appear to be identical. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. If the rest of the specs remain the same, we can also look forward to a 5.5-inch Full HD display.

That being said, WMPoweruser does point out that as the Liquid Jade Primo does not bear any Windows 10 markings on its body, it would be easy to just flash Android onto the device without having to make any manufacturing changes. Either way we guess we’ll have to wait and see if the rumors pan out, so until then try not to get your hopes up just yet.
