bmw_htcvive_vr_5Despite the HTC Vive being considerably more expensive than the Oculus Rift, many players have flocked to the headset due to the various positive reviews that it has received, which by the way in no means indicates that the Oculus Rift is bad. Now just like consoles and console exclusives, the Oculus Rift has had some exclusive titles made for it as a means to attract more gamers.

However it turns out that users of the HTC Vive don’t have to worry because it looks like Oculus Rift exclusives are being ported over onto the HTC Vive. We should point out that the porting of certain exclusive Oculus Rift titles is official. Instead it seems that developers have taken it upon themselves to port the titles over unofficially, which we can only imagine that the folks at Oculus can’t be too happy about.

This is thanks to a proof of concept program posted on GitHub. It should be noted that this is a proof of concept application and that in theory, it should work with pretty much any Oculus Rift title. The folks at Polygon have downloaded and tested the app out for themselves and have successfully managed to port the Oculus Dreamdeck demo on to the HTC Vive.

According to Redditor CrossVR who posted the app, “It may work with plenty of other games, but that hasn’t been tested by myself. It’s still early days for this project, since it’s only been in development for a few weeks. In the future more games will be supported, but I’m glad to see such swift progress already.”
