panasonic lumix gx85If you’re in the market for a new mirrorless camera, you are probably pretty spoilt for choice. The good news is that if you were looking for newer offerings, you’re in luck as Panasonic has officially announced the Lumix GX85. This is the company’s latest mirrorless camera offering and it is expected to be made available mid-May in the US for $800.

So the question is, what can you expect for $800? For starters Panasonic claims that this camera will combine the best features from the GX8 and the GX7. It will pack a 16MP Live MOS sensor and a new Venus Engine processor. The camera is capable of shooting up to a maximum ISO of 25,600 and will also be capable of shooting at 8fps.

There will be built-in image stabilization, so if you’re particularly shaky then hopefully this will help. It will also come with built-in WiFi so transferring images to and from the camera should be pretty easy as it does not involve the need for cables. As for videos, videographers should be interested in the camera as it can capture 4K video in either 24 or 30fps.

The camera even comes with a Post Focus system which basically means that once the photo has been taken, photographers will be able to readjust the camera’s focus point to their liking. The $800 will also include a 12-32mm kit lens and will be available in black or silver finishes.
