Tesla is seeing incredible demand for the affordable all-electric sedan that it recently unveiled. The company won’t start producing this car until next year but already more than 400,000 people have reserved one by putting down a nominal deposit. It helps that this car costs around $35,000 excluding federal and state tax benefits.

Tesla’s vice president of business development Diarmuid O’Connell was recently giving a speech in Amsterdam where he revealed that so far the company has received more than 400,000 reservations for the Model 3. This goes to show that the demand is quite strong for the affordable electric car and that the figure is only set to rise in the future.

The company is aware that this is a success but it is also mindful of the fact that delivering a great product is going to be the real success. Tesla might not have been expecting so many order soon after the vehicle was announced but they’ve come in now and it has to ensure that there are no major delays in production.

Reports suggest that the company is looking into ways to further streamline its production process to ensure that it can keep up with the rapid pace at which the orders are coming in. As previously mentioned, the Model 3 isn’t due to hit the production line until next year, so customers who did put down a deposit are going to have to wait well over a year before they get their Model 3.
