overwatch open betaEarlier this month, Blizzard announced that they will be taking out Overwatch’s Competitve Play feature and that it will not be available at launch. This doesn’t mean that they’re removing it for good, it’s just that they will be removing it temporarily while they get it sorted out, polished, and whatnot.

The good news is that gamers won’t have to wait too long for it to return. According to Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan in a recent Facebook Q&A session, he revealed that the developer has plans to bring back the feature in the next big update to the game, which he expects should drop next month.

According to Kaplan, this is not a guarantee but it is something that he hopes that they will be able to do. “I don’t want to promise an exact date. My rough commitment — or not commitment — would be sometime toward the end of June, middle-to-end of June.” Blizzard has been known to push back releases many times in order to ensure a quality release, so we wouldn’t be 100% surprised if they were to miss their June target.

After all better to release a quality feature than one that’s half-baked and leave a bad impression amongst gamers, right?
