Bloodhound SSC is a supersonic car that has been designed to beat the land speed record. The team has been working on this car for a while now to get it ready and in shape to beat the record. The team has announced that it has received new funding for its attempt which means it can start preparing for the attempt in South Africa but also reveals that the attempt itself has been pushed to October next year.

Bloodhound is supposed to beat the 763 miles per hour land speed record set by the Thrust SSC back in 1997. The timeline to beat the record has slipped once again, so those who have been waiting to see it beat the record will now have to wait some more.

A slow-speed test run of the supersonic car has been scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom by June next year, the test was initially supposed to take place this year. Bloodhound SSC is going to make the actual attempt at breaking the record in October 2017, it was initially supposed to do that by April-May 2017.

The supersonic car will be piloted by RAF Wing Commander Andy Green during the attempt, he has some experience with this given that he was also piloting the Thrust SSC that set the current land speed record over a decade ago. A second attempt is going to be made by 2018 to see if Bloodhound SSC is capable of breaching the 1000 miles per hour barrier.
