Google has gradually been expanding its Fiber gigabit internet service in more cities across the United States. A few months ago it announced that Salt Lake City will be the next location in which the service will go live and that has happened today. Google Fiber has gone live in Salt Lake City starting today.

Google Fiber is available in select areas of Salt Lake City. The coverage area is around 112 blocks from 100 South to 800 South between 400 West and 1300 East, reports The Salt Lake Tribune.

The company has launched an online portal that Salt Lake City residents can use to find out whether or not their area is within the covered zone. If it is, they can immediately apply for a connection, if not then they have to wait until Google Fiber is expanded to their area. The wait might not be that long as Google says that it’s going to expand Fiber to the rest of the city over the next couple of months.

Salt Lake City residents can pay $70 per month to get a gigabit internet connection. If they want the bundled TV service as well then the price goes up to $140 per month, a home phone line can be added for an additional $10. Customers can also opt for a 100Mbps internet connection only for $50 per month.
