gwentDuring E3, the folks at CD Projekt RED announced a new game called Gwent. This is digital card game that is based on a mini game found inside The Witcher 3. It seems that the game was so popular that the developers decided that it was good enough to stand on its own. There were even plans to launch a closed beta next month.

Unfortunately it seems that the developers have decided to delay the launch of the closed beta to October. According to its developers, “At E3 we announced that we’d launch the Closed Beta of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game in September. Unfortunately, we feel we need some extra time with the game before we hand it off to you for testing.”

They add, “We know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline. Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t realize that delays can be disappointing, and we apologize for making you wait.”

Given that there are competitive card games such as Hearthstone out there, it is true that the developers need to get it right the first time if they hope to convince gamers to come on board. Let’s not forget The Elder Scrolls Legends is also an upcoming competitor. That being said, the new date for the closed beta has been set for the 25th of October.
