Samsung Galaxy S8 Might Not Have A Flat Screen Variant

galaxy-s7-design_03Prior to the Galaxy Note 7’s launch, Samsung has been sort of experimenting and testing the waters with its curved displays. For example they offered customers the choice between a regular flat screen smartphone, or one with curved edges, but then the Galaxy Note 7 came along and it was only offered in a curved variant.

This seems to suggest that Samsung is pretty confident about the demand for such displays, which is why it doesn’t surprise us to learn that according to the Korea Herald (via SamMobile), the Galaxy S8 might not be offered in a flat screen variant as well. The report claims that Samsung will only launch a curved screen version of the Galaxy S8 so if you aren’t quite sold on the idea, next year you might not really have a choice.

However like we said, this move isn’t surprising as Samsung has been slowly moving towards slightly more unconventional designs. In fact a report from Bloomberg earlier this year suggested that Samsung’s foldable smartphones will be launched in 2017. That being said, we have been hearing some rumors about the Galaxy S8.

For starters one of those rumors is that it will sport a 4K VR-ready display. It is also said to pack a dual-camera setup, retain the iris scanner used in the Galaxy Note 7, and will also come with a new selfie sensor. In any case it’s best taken with a grain of salt, but what do you guys think? Would you be fine with a curved Galaxy S8? Or would you like to at least have the option of going flat?
