Dual Camera To Continue Being Exclusive To High-End iPhones In 2017

With the launch of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple has finally brought optical image stabilization (OIS) to both models, whereas previous OIS was only available on the Plus version of the iPhone. So does that mean that eventually the dual camera setup will be available on both iPhones?

We suppose that could eventually become a possibility, but don’t expect it anytime soon because according to a new research report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he believes that the dual camera setup will continue being an exclusive to the higher-end iPhones (basically the Plus models) in 2017, the year in which the all-glass iPhone is rumored to be launched.

According to Kuo, “While an attractive addition for avid picture takers and professional photographers, the iPhone 7 Plus dual-camera is not a mass-market killer application yet. Along with its high cost (estimated at over US$30-40) and the necessity for Apple to enhance the added value of high-end iPhone models, we expect only high-end new iPhone models (30-40% of them) to have a dual-camera next year.”

What this means is that if the dual camera setup ever arrives for all iPhone models, 2018 is probably the earliest we can expect. Given that OIS took two generations before arriving on both models, we guess 2018 would make sense, but what do you guys think? Is the dual camera setup one of the main reasons you will be buying the iPhone 7 Plus over the iPhone 7?
