Apple Could Be Turning To Japan For Improve Siri

ios 9 siriLet’s face it, as much as Apple loves to tout Siri’s capabilities, it really isn’t quite there yet, or at least it isn’t living up the potential that many had thought it had. In fact other voice assistant platforms that are newer, such as Amazon’s Alexa, is gaining more traction thanks to devices like the Echo.

However Apple isn’t giving up just yet. In an interview with the Nikkei Asian Review (via MacRumors), Apple’s CEO Tim Cook seemed to hint that the company could be expanding their AI efforts by turning to Japan. Cook revealed that they are currently working on an advanced R&D center in Yokohama that is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.

According to Cook who hinted at the company’s plans for the R&D center, “AI is horizontal in nature, running across all products, and is used in ways that most people don’t even think about. We want the AI to increase your battery life, to recommend music to Apple Music subscribers… [to] help you remember where you parked your car.”

Whether or not Apple’s efforts and investment in Japan, but safe to say that Siri definitely could use some improvements and if this leads to that, why not?
