Detective Pikachu Movie Has Found Its Director

detective pikachuA few months ago it was reported that the folks at Legendary and the Pokemon Company could be creating a live-action Pokemon movie. Pokemon movies have been done before, but for the most part they have been animations, so it will be interesting to see a live-action take on the franchise.

According to a report from Deadline, it seems that the movie might have found its director in the form of Rob Letterman. For those unfamiliar with Letterman’s work, he is behind movies such as Goosebumps, Monsters Vs. Aliens, and Shark Tale, so safe to say that he has some experience when it comes to animated movies.

The movie will also feature a script written by Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch and will see Detective Pikachu star in it. We’re not sure what the exact story of the movie will be about, but if you are a fan of the Pokemon series then we guess it could be worth looking forward to. Unfortunately chances are we’ll probably have to wait a while as production is only set to begin next year, which means that a release in 2018 will probably be the earliest that we can expect it.

In the meantime we’ll keep an eye out for additional details about the movie that might surface in the near future.
