Spotify’s Billboard Ads Reveal Their Users’ Listening Habits

spotify-billboard-adsWe all have different listening habits and this is normal. Some days we might play songs that remind us of someone that we love, some days we might feel like some cheerful music, or sometimes we might play some songs that help us to concentrate. These are interesting insights that Spotify has decided to share via billboard ads that you can see in the photo above.

In a new marketing campaign, it seems that Spotify has decided to share the listening habits of their users via billboard ads placed along busy streets. Some of the examples of the insights they’re sharing include, “Dear person who made a playlist called: ‘One Night Stand With Jeb Bush Like He’s a Bond Girl in a European Casino.’ We have so many questions.” There is another that says, “To the 1,235 guys who loved the “Girls Night” playlist this year, We love you.”

So what’s with these insights? Speaking to Creativity, Spotify CMO Seth Farban said, “There has been some debate about whether big data is muting creativity in marketing, but we have turned that on its head. For us, data inspires and gives an insight into the emotion that people are expressing.”

Obviously the billboards don’t name names, and we have to say that it is pretty hilarious to see what other people around the world are listening to. Have you come across these billboards, and more importantly, do you recognize yourself in any of them?
