With Overwatch launching to great success earlier this year, all Blizzard has to do is ensure that the ball keeps rolling and in the video posted above, Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan does a recap of some of the things Blizzard has done for the game in 2016, as well as lay out plans for what they plan to do in 2017.

Now the video is pretty lengthy at around 12 minutes, but basically Kaplan has revealed that there are more heroes that are being planned for release next year, new maps, new game modes, as well as tweaks to existing characters. He also said that Blizzard is working on a ton of “fun” prototypes and he hopes that gamers will be able to see it for themselves in 2017.

However given that they are just prototypes, it is unclear as to how many of them will make the final cut. Kaplan also talks about the broadcasting community and also revealed that Blizzard will be improving on the spectator mode in the game that will help improve the pro tournament scene. Given that Blizzard’s interest in eSports isn’t exactly a secret, this should come as good news for those who follow tournaments.

Last but not least, Kaplan stated that there are plans to introduce a server browser where gamers can search for custom games where the rules of the games are decided by players. This feature is expected to debut come early 2017. In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, you can check out Kaplan’s recap of 2016 in the video above.
