Tesla To Take Action Against Drivers Who Park Cars At Superchargers

tesla-storeThe thing is that unlike fueling up a car at a gas station, charging your electric vehicle takes a little longer than that. This means that sometimes instead of just hanging around and waiting to be topped off, sometimes drivers might choose to run some errands or grab a cup of coffee while waiting.

Unfortunately this has resulted in drivers abusing the parking space given to them to charge their cars. This means that when other drivers roll up and need to charge their cars, it is taken by a fully charged vehicle. The good news is that Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk knows about the problem and according to his tweet (via Autoblog), there are plans to do something about it.

Musk’s tweet reads, “You’re right, this is becoming an issue. Supercharger spots are meant for charging, not parking. Will take action.” Exactly what this “action” will consist of remains to be seen, but it’s similar to cars who park at gas stations and leave it there, taking up a spot that would have otherwise been used by another customer.

Right now we’re thinking that towing these cars away is probably the best solution, but what do you guys think? How else should Tesla deal with such drivers in the future?
