Wireless Charging Company Teams Up With Known Apple Supplier

apple_logo2It is said that one of the features of the iPhone 8 next year is that it will have wireless charging. There have been multiple rumors on that front, and now a report from Fast Company has lent more speculation on that matter, a report which claims how wireless charging company Energous has teamed up with Apple supplier Dialog.

Note that Apple’s suppliers do have other customers which means that this is a long-shot, but it certainly does fit the narrative of the iPhone 8’s wireless charging capabilities. According to the report, Dialog (who makes power management chips) recently invested $10 million into Energous, and it will see future Energous technology produced under the Dialog branding.

Fast Company has heard from their sources that three quarters of Dialog’s business comes from supplying chips to Apple, so like we said, it does somehow lend itself to the speculation of the iPhone’s wireless charging capabilities. For those unfamiliar with Energous, the company has produced wireless charging technology that uses radio frequencies to charge devices, meaning that it can be charged from up to 15 feet away as opposed to sitting on top of a charging pad.

This could be the technology that Apple has been waiting for as in the past, Apple had filed for patents regarding wireless charging that are similar in concept. Now whether or not this investment has anything to do with Apple remains to be seen, so until then try not to get your hopes up too much.
