A notice sent out by the Consumer Product Safety Commission confirms that HP has recalled more than 100,000 lithium-ion batteries used in its notebooks due to overheating concerns. This isn’t the first time that HP has had to recall its notebook batteries because there are concerns about them posing “fire and burn hazards” to customers.

HP issued a recall for 41,000 notebook batteries in the United States in June last year over similar concerns of combustion. It’s now doing the same for more than 100,000 batteries meant for the devices mentioned below.

Notebooks affected by this latest recall include the HP Envy, HP ProBook, Compaq Presario, and HP Pavilion series machines purchased between March 2013 and October 2016. HP sold batteries for these notebooks separately for as much as $90.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled batteries, remove them from the notebook computers and contact HP for a free replacement battery,” the notice sent out by the Consumer Product Safety Commission says. It recommends that until replacement batteries are provided, customers should only use their notebooks by plugging them into the AC adapters.

A spokeswoman for HP said that this recall affects less than one percent of all HP notebooks sold during that period of time. The company is going to provide a replacement battery for each verified, affected battery at no cost to the customer.
