The Chinese New Year is nearly upon us and it seems that Blizzard is eager to celebrate the festivities with Overwatch. In a pair of announcements on its English and Korean Overwatch Twitter pages, Blizzard has revealed that they are planning on launching new skins themed around the Chinese New Year.

Given that Overwatch is Blizzard’s most diverse game to date, it isn’t surprising that the celebration does feel a bit different compared to how Blizzard has celebrated the holidays in the past on World of Warcraft. So far Blizzard has only shown off two skins, one for Mei and the other for D.Va, although in D.Va’s case her skin will be that of a traditional Korean Hanbok, while Mei will sport a more Chinese-inspired outfit.

Speaking to Polygon, a Blizzard spokesperson confirmed to the publication that the Chinese New Year skins and event will be similar to their other events in the past. This means that it will be for a limited time only and apart from the skins, new sprays, voice lines, emotes, and other cosmetic items will be part of the update.

Blizzard did not say for how long the event will run for, but it will be kicking off on the 24th of January which is several days before the actual Chinese New Year (28th of January).
