When Activision announced Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare last year, they faced a ton of backlash because it seems that not many gamers seemed to appreciate the fact that it was set in the future. However if the sales figures are accurate, it seems that ultimately players did not seem to mind too much.

Interestingly enough Activision could be traveling back in time with 2017’s release, thanks to a post on Reddit in which the alleged 2017 Call of Duty poster was leaked. As you can see in the image above, it shows that the upcoming Call of Duty could be called WWII, as in World War 2. This is quite a contrast to 2016’s release if accurate, and interesting because if you recall, Battlefield’s 2016 release was based in World War I and it was pretty well-received.

In any case it’s hard to tell if this image is the real deal since anyone can easily create a poster mockup. However according to the mods of the subreddit, the user who leaked the information has had a good track record to the point where Activision actually had their account removed in the past thanks to a DMCA takedown request, so maybe there is some truth to their claims.

This is something we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves, but in the meantime how does the idea of a World War 2 Call of Duty sound to you guys? Yay or nay?
