New Batman Movie Production May Not Start Until Next Year

The Batman franchise is being rebooted with Ben Affleck in the lead role. Fans who have been waiting to see what path the franchise goes down next will have to wait considering that latest reports suggest that production of the new Batman movie may not begin until next year. The lead actor was expected to direct the movie himself but now we know that’s not going to happen. The movie is tentatively being called The Batman.

Variety reporter Justin Kroll shared some bad news for DC fans today on Twitter, pointing out that director Matt Reeves will be so occupied with his work on War for the Planet of the Apes that he won’t even be able to start pre-production on The Batman until this summer.

Kroll also said that any and all casting rumors that are likely to float around in the coming months will be entirely inaccurate given that the director won’t even have time to meet with any talent until at least July. No casting decisions aside from the obvious one will be made before the.

It goes without saying that The Batman may not be able to make its summer 2018 release timeframe. The studio is yet to communicate when they’re hoping to get this movie out but if production won’t begin until 2018, a summer release looks rather unlikely by the minute.
